This week has been a little busy with things separate from my blog but I’ve had plenty of time to try some new products and work in a few old favourites – I’ve found some great new products this week that I really cannot put down, from blushers to bases here are my top picks.
MAC Desert Rose Blush £17.50
This is a blush that I’ve had for some time now, I have a large MAC blush collection but if I’m honest, I’ve been favouring creamy blushers for some time now so they don’t get much use. Not only is this a powder blush but it’s also a – wait for it – matte finish! Coming from a girl who will do anything for glowing skin, this may shock some of you but don’t look away just yet, I’ve found that a little of this dusted high on cheek bones really gives a fresh vibe to my skin and sculpts my chubby moon face. The colour is really beautiful, not too bright or daring but just enough of a ‘out there’ pink to give a perfect flush.
Jurlique Rose Love Balm £9 *
I’ve mentioned before that I have high expectations when it comes to lip products – after all, we end up eating most of it anyway! Love Balm is a favourite of mine and I’ve been using it for years – it’s natural, contains no nasties and doesn’t have an overpowering scent. It’s also a multi-use wonder and I keep it on my bedside so I can apply a little to my lips, cuticles and around my nose to keep any dry areas in check. Jurlique are a lovely brand and I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from them (which has been a lot!).
This Works Clean Skin 5-In-1 Water £21
Another rose scented product, this time to remove makeup – this was purchased to replace my Bioderma when it finished, I rarely repurchase the same product twice as I like to trial new things. This rosewater makeup remover works to dissolve makeup for a gentle and very effective cleansing that leaves skin feeling so fresh and clean. It also contains almond and olive oils to leave skin feeling supple, whilst shedding dead skin cells and taking off the (entire) day. A big hit with me as it makes the chore of removing makeup very quick and simple. A little pricey but definitely a good buy.
Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File £15.50
I finally took the plunge and bought this much-loved, lifetime guaranteed crystal nail file as I really am in to looking after my nails at the moment. It certain lives up to the hype, making filing nails so easy – a few swipes back and forth and files are turned to dust. It leaves nails feeling so smooth so there’s really no need to buff afterwards (I have to have really smooth nail edges!). Leighton Denny is a much-awarded manicurist who definitely knows his stuff!
OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil To Go £10.25
Carrying on with the tip-top nail theme, I picked up this cuticle oil from OPI on a whim as I know their products are a hit and my ‘perfect nails’ mission is well underway. So far it’s mess-free and smells incredible, hopefully I’ll get a lot of use out of this and it’ll encourage me to look after my cuticles a bit better! It hydrates and nourishes around the nail to keep the cuticles looking as healthy as possible, it’s ideal for on the go and for topping up whenever – I know I’ll be keeping this on my desk as a constant reminder. No excuses now…
Jouer Matte Moisture Tint £29 *
Another shocker – I’m a matte skin fiend at the moment! I received this lovely base recently and I’m now completely sold on it – it’s a tinted moisturiser with perfect coverage that smoothes over my skin for a more natural finish. As much as I love a glow, this leaves my skin looking really bare and flawless thanks to the slightly dewy-ness of it so it’s an absolute must in my routine at the moment. Jouer have impressed me with quite a few of their products as of late so they’re definitely one to keep an eye on! Although quite light, it does cover all blemishes without a hitch and is long-lasting too. Look out for a full review coming soon!
