Forever Repurchased.

posted on: 6 May, 2013

Even though I’m often obsessively trying out new products for various reviews and upcoming features, I still rely on quite a few favourites that have stuck by me over the years. These are the ones I always seem to repurchase when they’re empty and never consider looking at another brand, although sometimes I do have flings with other products, I usually always come back to this lot.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation (full review here) is probably the one foundation I always come back to, I think I’ve mentioned this product on here more than anything else. Finding a great foundation that offers great coverage yet looks like and glowy on the skin has been one of my life missions and so now I’ve found this little tube, I haven’t let go all that easy. I first tried this about a year ago, which for me and foundations is quite a long affair – in fact I would probably call it quite a committed marriage by now. You really only need a tiny, tiny bit (although this tube it pretty much done for!) so one tube should last you the best part of a year I should think. It’s dewy, it’s natural and it covers everything.
Another makeup product I always stand by is Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch Primer (review here), it’s incredibly good at perfecting skin, especially if you have a few issues with pores and have a combination skin type as it helps to get the dry patches in check as well as balancing an oily T-Zone. I am on my second pot of this but like Silk Cream, one pot has lasted me about a year so it’s worth the money. It makes skin velvety smooth without looking slick on the skin.

Origins VitaZing Moisturiser is a protecting, slightly tinted moisturiser that adds the most incredible glow to skin, without much coverage. I usually use it under base products to make sure my skin looks as bright and perky as possible, as imperfections are quickly covered with this gem. It means I can use a lighter base and still feel confident about my skin – everytime I use this I feel so happy with my complexion so I always make sure to have a tube on hand!
Moving on to skincare, another Origins product is always a must have in my bathroom – Origins Zero Oil Cleanser has seen my skin through from an oil-prone, acne skin type to normal, healthy and bright (with the occasional blemish) and I couldn’t be more thankful. This manages to freshen skin, control sebum and unclog pores without stripping the skin, but as my skin can get dehydrated quickly, I always make sure to use a creamy cleanser at night and this in the morning. Whenever my skin shows any signs of congestion or excess oil, I can rely on this foamy wash to keep my skin balanced.

Also on my skincare ‘forever repurchased’ list is Caudalie Beauty Elixir, a calming, revitalising mist that I use on a daily basis to ensure my skin is feeling energised and calm. I find that this helps with blemishes so much, not only ensuring they clear up quickly but also taking a lot of the redness away which tends to show through my makeup (meaning I slap on more!). I use this like a toner, but without a cotton pad – I just spritz it straight on to skin.

A couple of hair and body items last; the first being Soap and Glory’s Sugar Crush body wash which I think has the perfect fragrance for waking me up in the morning, it smells like mojitos on holiday and it always managed to cheer me up! I think Soap and Glorys body washes are so worth the money as they’re usually on 3for2 and the huge bottles mean they last a while. I always never ever skip out on my all time favourite hair product – Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave In Conditioner. This is a dream for getting the brush through hair, whilst infusing it with the finest fragrance known to (wo)man. I honestly would wear this scent if they released a fragrance. It’s also handy for helping settle static or flyaway hair, making sure it smells fresh in-between washes and always, always helping to untangle your locks whether your hair is wet or dry. AN ESSENTIAL!

What do you think of my ‘forever repurchased’ products? Shall I make this a regular feature?

Some of these products may have been sent to me for review. For more information, see my disclaimer.

Would love to see this as a regular feature! Trust your recommendations so much so anything forever purchased must be top of the tops! x

  • Veronica Romanov

Saving my pennies for the Silk Creme Foundation thanks to you (and a swatch at my local Sephora). You should definitely make this a regular feature; I find it’s the best way to see what people actually like…maybe split it up into sections such as eyes, face, etc.

This is a great list of go-to products. I’ve just started using the Clarins primer and it’s amazing – really resurfaces the skin before make-up. I also love the sugar crush shower gel because it’s just so moisturising and smells lovely too x

      Hey Zo,

Not trying to be a creeper but I’m pretty sure you can pick that up from Chemist warehouse or maybe even ebay!
Also some online stores do the more ‘supermarket’ brands so maybe have a google :)

I actually don’t like the Silk Creme foundation! It tends to oxidize like crazy and kind of slide on my face

I just bought the Caudalie Beauty Elixir but noticed that alcohol is one of the first couple ingredients! I’m told that’s a real no-no so I had to take it back. Using a natural toner now.

Love this post, such a great idea :) I’m tempted by Silk Creme because your skin always looks so perfect but I’m not sure I can tear myself away from my beloved BB Cream. I’ve recently tried the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and I have to say I don’t really ‘get’ it. Yes its lovely and refreshing but I’ve not noticed any benefits and I’ve gotten through the smaller bottle really quickly. The Dove Nourishing Oil products are brilliant, I’ve been loving the shampoos, conditioners and treatments for months now – they always leave my hair so silky and soft x

I’ve never used Soap and Glory, but their packaging is so cute! Kind of reminds me of Benefit and The Balm. I love the retro look. Love this feature! Always good to know what beauty bloggers always come back to, as we are always trying new products and finding new “favorites”.

  • Paris

Completely agree about the zero oil cleanser, smells amazing and does wonders for the skin!
Can’t say I love vitazing though, tried it in kit the other day and it actually looked rather orangey :(

Please make this a regular feature!!
