The Best Concealer Ever?

14 March, 2014

Well. If you’ll excuse the rather dramatic title, I’m having a moment with this here concealer. I originally bought this on one of my many random Boots hauls a few months ago, and I was instantly impressed – but it wasn’t until this week when I realised how amazing it is.

The Maybelline Fit Me Anti-Shine Stick (£8.99) is a bit of a ‘do all’ job, the formula is so smooth and velvety that you can use it anywhere (well, y’know anywhere on the face). I started off using it under makeup to hide scarring, redness etc. and then layered over a lovely light tinted moisturiser over the top and the results were amazing. This is unlike any product I’ve ever tried, it’s seamless to apply and covers everything whilst still being incredibly light – when you apply it feels like you can’t even feel it rolling on the skin and then it’s pretty undetectable. Blending is a dream, and it camouflages even the worst blemishes with little effort.
It’s so creamy that it kind of just becomes the skin – whether you use it under makeup for some undetectable coverage, over makeup or alone.

As I said, I started using it under makeup but yesterday I used it as you would a concealer; applied it over my base and worked it in – cue a very happy me as it looked so flawless and invisible. It also has a very natural, almost matte finish that doesn’t slip off during the day – I find matte finished are best for blemishes as they really keep them hidden. I usually use creamy concealers (like 17 Stay Time Concealer) but I find this is a million times light and doesn’t a much better job of concealing and minimising imperfections.

The formula is so perfect that you can use it for any job (I know someone who bought the lightest and darkest shades and now uses them for contouring) and just a warm finger or a light fluffy brush is all you need to blend out. I have the shade Natural Beige 220 and it’s perfect, such a great match for my skin.

Has anyone else given this a try?

I’ve got it in the shade 110. While it’s a great match for skin tone, I find the formula dreadful for my skin type. I didn’t think i had bad skin, but it made any problem areas look so much worse. I also found it didn’t have very high coverage either. But thats just me. :)

What skin type do you have? Would you guys reckon it suit oily skins?

      • Georgia Wolfe

I have oily skin, but it doesn’t look good on me. Check out Wayne Goss’s review on it if you already haven’t, it will give you more information than I can :)

I am SOLD. Really interested in this. I too use 17’s Stay Time for blemishes but have found it too creamy recently so this sounds ideal. Also VERY intrigued to look at it for contouring! xx

wow I definitely need to try this now! I’ve tried products from Maybelline’s Fit Me range and wasn’t overwhelmed, but I never tried this – now having read this, I know I’ve really been missing out!

I actually bought this yesterday as a keep in the handbag all in one foundation/concealer. I used it this morning as a concealer and i agree its amazing, so creamy and light!

  • Sandy

This sounds amazing. I am a big fan of stick foundations like this, they always have such great coverage. I do the same with the Becca ones and have a lighter one and darker one for contouring. Works a treat! xx

This sounds really nice but i have heard so many mixed reviews on it! not sure what to do :/!

I own the Fit Me foundation and love it. Now it sounds like I need to pick up the concealer too. You sold it to me from the title alone. It sounds like a must have :)

I love when drugstore products are this amazing. I have yet to try this concealer (Revlon is my go-to for concealers), but if it goes on sale, I think I’ll try it out!

  • Patricia Gomes

I bought this last week, tried it a couple of days as foundation and was suitably impressed. it blends really well and isn’t noticeable at all. I didn’t think of using it as concealer but I’ll definitely try it out in different ways!

Im a huge fan of the foundation from the FIT me range but Im yet to try the concealer, you may have just given me the best excuse ever.

I’ve always ignored this product when I’ve seen it in stores…but according to your description I think it would be a perfect addition to my routine! Thanks for doing this review!

  • Emily

I would honestly walk straight past this, I am a bit snobby about things (especially face products) that come in ‘stick formation’, but from what you’ve said it seems like it would be a perfect match. I’ll have to give it a try soon. How is it under dark circles?

(Un)fortunately I work close to a huge Boots (with all the new releases and 3 for 2 it’s a dangerous time), so I picked it up straight after reading your review :) have to say it’s really something, blends like a dream, provides great coverage while being incredibly light. Thanks Kate :)

I bought the foundation from the fit me line & didn’t really love it, so i’m interested that the concealer is so good. What’s it like for covering up dark circles?

    • The Vintique Object

SOOO good for covering dark circles. In fact, nothing has ever worked better for me. I love this stick!

  • http://raeey.tumblr.com/ Rachel

I bought this initially as a concealer as well instead of foundation which it claims to be. I liked it for a while since I could just swipe it over troublesome places, but I think it’s just too drying for my skin. After a few hours of use it began to cake up and look odd, like it settled on the surface of my skin and never really ‘melted’ into it. It’s a nice find, just not for my grandma skin (even at 21 years old) :0

  • Annie Lindsay

I’ve seen that concealer no less than 100 times in the stores and never thought twice about it. But using it a cream contour never crossed my mind and now I can’t stop thinking about it.

I have seen this in Boots, but have never actually tried it. I suppose it’s got lost in the hype for the Collection and Seventeen concealers and been forgotten about. I will definitely be having a look at it next time I’m passing through Boots.

  • Carli Bustamante

Wait, I think it is foundation… thats why is so good

  • c

I use this as concealer as well. It’s small and portable, so I keep it in my purchase as a “back up/emergency” concealer.

  • KnittedFox

I recently found this stick and LOVE it! It helps even out my skin tone better than anything else I’ve tried, but I typically need to put either a BB or CC cream over it otherwise it makes my skin look funny, in a kind of bad dry matte sort of way. There’s only a baby bit left on my stick so I need to run out and get more soon! Pretty sure this will be a staple for ever now. 😀

  • Jenmarie

I’m a huge fan of Maybelline so I will have to try this out! Lately I’ve been using the NYX High Definition Concealer (which I absolutely love) and it works great for under the eyes too!

this is something i probably would have never picked up had i come across it in store but it sounds like such a dream product! most of the time i use either a concealing set from benefit or an old industrial style concealer from the brand ‘witch’ but neither are completely perfect. as a sufferer of truly oily skin i think this would be so perfect for me both over and under make up! it really does sound like an amazing product! :) X

Just got this. AH-mazing. Used it as a concealer on top of a CC cream just in areas where my acne scars showed through and it was amazing! It’s creamy but almost turns into a fine powder while blending, which is amazing ’cause you don’t need to worry about taking a gloomy creamy concealer AND setting powder with you, this is just so handy! Not used it as a foundation yet, but might give it try. I know it says ‘Foundation stick’ but it works amazingly as a concealer! BIG LOVE. x
